Reach 3 & 4 : Rotary Park to Lion’s Point

Reach 3 – 110m

Reach 3 contains popular meeting places such as Rotary Park Pavillion and other park infrastructure close to the rapidly eroding shoreline bluffs. These bluffs have begun to pose a hazard to the Waterfront Trail and park visitors and has been identified as a high priority area.

Preliminary Remediation Options for Consideration

The preliminary recommended option for this site is an offshore breakwater, but a revetment is also possible. The offshore breakwater offers a more natural progression of shoreline between the creek mouth and Rotary Park, and maintains public access to the beach.

Reach 4 – 650m

Reach 4 features a long stretch of shoreline with high bluffs and a narrow stretch of beach. Analysis showed slow erosion rates but the height of the bluffs makes the effects of erosion more hazardous.

Preliminary Remediation Options for Consideration

The preliminary recommended option for this area is a traditional revetment, with the secondary option being a cobble beach. It is also possible to explore combining both options for this longer site, if desired.
