Notice of Intent - Start of Class EA

Completed: Fall 2021

A Notice of Intent was issued in September 2021 officially launching the Class EA.

Background Review and Data Collection

Ongoing: Fall 2021 - Summer 2023

A review of site conditions and completion of background studies is underway. Data collection will be an ongoing process throughout the Class EA phase to ensure information from all seasons is collected.

Identify Alternative Solutions and Draft Concept Designs

Completed: Fall 2021-Winter 2022

Several alternative solutions for flood protection have been developed.

First Round of Public Engagement - PIC #1

Completed: Winter 2022

Draft concept designs will be presented to the community and local stakeholders for review as part of the evaluation process.

Revisions Based on Community Feedback and Selection of Preferred Alternative

Completed: Spring - Summer 2022

The concept evaluation and ranking were updated based on input from PIC #1 and the final preferred solutions have been identified

Detailed Screening of Preferred Alternatives

Completed: Fall 2022 - Winter 2023

The preferred alternatives were evaluated in more detail to investigate their environmental impact

Second Round of Public Engagement - PIC #2

Current: Spring 2023

Preferred alternatives will be presented to the community and local stakeholders for final review and feedback.

Finalize Preferred Solutions

Upcoming: Spring - Summer 2023

Evaluation of the preferred alternatives will be updated and finalized based on feedback received through the public engagement process

Prepare Environmental Study Report

Upcoming:

An Environmental Study Report (ESR) which documents the Class EA and engagement process will be prepared

Notice of Filing

Upcoming:

The ESR will be posted publicly and submitted to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks for a 30-day review period. A Notice of Filing will be published to indicate the review period has started.

Notice of Project Approval - Class EA Complete

Upcoming:

A Notice of Project Approval will be published once the 30-day review is complete and the Class EA is approved.
